Culture for recovery was an initiative reserved for volunteers, officials and operators of the Lombardy Civil Protection and for volunteers registered in 27 volunteer associations who performed operational service for the management of the COVID-19 emergency, particularly in the vaccination hubs in Lombardy.
The project, initiated by the Lombardy Regionone of its objectives was to promote the dissemination and consolidation of initiatives aimed at containing the psycho-social consequences of distancing and restrictions on social life necessary to reduce the risks of spreading Covid-19with particular attention to cultural tools that can support individuals in times of loneliness and areand, at the same time, an opportunity for personal growth.
The link between cultural participation and well-being is now a topic that has given rise to various projects and literature. The Covid crisis19 highlighted the influence of the arts on our mental health. The legitimacy of the alliance between culture and well-being is in the scientific evidence gathered in recent World Health Organisation research. It has now been verified that exposure to art and beauty can have direct and immediate results on the brain health of individuals, improve well-being, encourage the adoption of healthy habits and prevent social isolation, among other things.
The Abbonamento Musei card therefore proved to be the perfect tool to facilitate cultural enjoyment, using the resources provided by the initiative to issue cards to be offered free of charge to volunteers, together with the proposal of a programme of cultural activities such as stimulating participation and sociabilityallowing the cultural heritage of Lombardy to be discovered with pleasure.
Implemented by the Lombardy Region with funds from the Ministry of Economic Development. Allocation 2020.
