Chick hunting

Lewis Carroll? A beginner. LSD? Stuff for the spoilt rich, I am the father of the Lilliputians that Gulliver met on his travels. My imagination ran wild in the late 17th century. Here are my paintings, pure Brescian spirit on canvas. My joyful, dancing little men, naively celebrating in the beautiful country landscape. They are graceful and strutting in their rich garments. They sit on top of a mushroom near a placid river or in a clearing with autumnal colours.

Did I want to take the Lombard nobility lounging in the villas of the surrounding area by the whiskers? Was I idealising the life of the peasants of the first undulations that herald the lakes? Who knows? If you approach the canvas, don't you feel as if you can hear the 'grape fogarina' as a small catastrophe is about to befall my characters? Here is a very dangerous chick that has escaped from mother hen, threatening to make havoc of my little friends. Of course, it won't be a silly little beast that ruins the day, and with the help of pitchforks and sticks the impetuous animal will be chased back into the confines of the neighbouring farm.

On closer inspection, in the midst of that paraphernalia there are those who take the opportunity to grope the generous breasts of the lady who fainted from fright. It is hoped that the young man caught in the claws of the belligerent chick will recover his strength and come away with a few scars that he will show his grandchildren when he recalls the bloody battle. It happened one terrible day in September... he will say in a heavy voice, and if someone tries to grab him by the nose, he will remind the mischievous one that his friend Bortolo had it worse. Just look at the picture nearby, where a crayfish tries to drag away a little wretch, to find Bortolo, who, thanks to the promptness of his companions, will be saved.

I, Faustino Bocchi, owe much to my characters, they will make me rich and appreciated even outside Brescia. I have heard that some of my canvases called 'pygmy jokes' will be given to Juvarra as a gift for his advice during the construction of the new cathedral in the city and that the famous architect will be enthusiastic about them.
