Temporary exhibition
Correspondences: Soundwalk Collective & Patti Smith
Triennale Milan - Milan (MI)
From Thursday 26 November 2026 to Sunday 7 March 2027
The project showcases the results of an auditory and visual exploration spanning over ten years, a journey undertaken jointly by the sound art collective Soundwalk Collective and the poet and artist Patti Smith. The exhibition takes the form of a dense web of connections in which poetic fragments, soundscapes and the visual arts merge into a multi-sensory experience that invites visitors to reflect on the profound bond between humankind and nature.
The exhibition itinerary, set out within the spaces of the Cube on the first floor of the Triennale Milan, takes shape from the ambient field recordings made by the collective founded by Stephan Crasneanscki. Soundwalk Collective has travelled through and explored remote and vulnerable corners of the planet, from erupting volcanoes to frozen expanses, capturing the echoes of ever-changing ecosystems. These soundscapes and frequencies become the living fabric onto which the iconic voice of Patti Smith, which translates the auditory experience into words, songs, handwritten texts and graphic works.
In collaboration with the Fondation Cartier for Contemporary Art, the exhibition becomes an immersive experience in which audiovisual installations, projections and previously unreleased tracks guide the audience through some of the crucial issues of our time: the climate change crisis, the memory of places and the fragility of the natural balance.
