A rediscovered treasure
A visit to the Convent of St Francis
Bergamo (BG)
Sunday 22.11.2026 at 11:00-12:00
To mark the reopening of the convent’s lower cloisters, the Bergamo History Museum invites you to rediscover this extraordinary monument. Off the beaten track, the Convent of San Francesco allows the attentive visitor to explore the city’s history from a less obvious perspective: within the tranquillity of its 14th-century cloisters lies the legacy of one of the most important religious orders of the late Middle Ages, as well as traces of the events that led this splendid complex to become first a prison, then a school and finally a museum. A journey through time with understated charm, culminating on the refurbished panoramic terrace, from which you can enjoy a unique view of the city and its valleys.
