Temporary exhibition
Warp and weft
Pistoletto, Buren and Boetti from the Canclini Collection
Bagatti Valsecchi Museum - Milan (MI)
From Friday 27 November 2026 to Sunday 16 May 2027
The exhibition explores the textiles as an artistic language and a living entity capable of interpreting eras, cultures and ways of living. Through the masterpieces of contemporary art from the Canclini Collection, the exhibition brings together the work of leading international artists such as Michelangelo Pistoletto, Daniel Buren, Alighiero Boetti, Jannis Kounellis, Andy Warhol, Christian Boltanski, Maria Lai, Yayoi Kusama e Tracey Emin, who have elevated thread, colour and weave to the status of genuine tools for visual and conceptual exploration.
The installation of the works in the galleries of the house museum fosters a meaningful engagement with the permanent collections of the Bagatti Valsecchi Museum, historically characterised by a strong presence of fabrics, exquisite tapestries and period textile furnishings. This direct comparison highlights the link between the applied arts, the Neo-Renaissance decorative tradition and artisanal craftsmanship, transforming the fabric into a canvas for reflection on time, gesture and memory.
The exhibition, curated by DWA Design Studio guides visitors through evocative spaces where the lightness of the textiles meets the solid structure of the historic rooms. Born out of intuition and entrepreneurial passion, the Canclini Collection shows how the textile you represent a universal bridge between contemporary creativity, artistic intuition and industrial craftsmanship.
