In 1926 the industrial history of Casalmaggiore marks a fundamental turning point: the emergence of the F.G.M. (Fabbriche Riunite Federale Galluzzi Maffei), founded through the merger of the Federal Goldsmiths’ Associationof the Giulio Galluzzi and de Giuseppe Maffei’s *Il Placcato*. This event takes place against a global backdrop characterised by radical transformations, major technological innovations and new artistic languages.

The exhibition takes visitors on a fascinating journey linking local manufacturing to the events of the period. A simple cufflink depicting the ocean liner Rome evokes the great international journeys, whilst commemorative medals mark the celebrations for the The 700th anniversary of the death of St Francis. Also standing out amongst the shop windows are badges commissioned by the Fascist regime, reflecting the profound political changes currently taking place.

The influence of the’Art Deco and the Egyptomania sparked by the transfer of the Tutankhamun’s funeral mask at the museum of the Cairo are reflected in the aesthetic of Casalasca costume jewellery. At the same time, pop culture icons such as Felix the Cat, Charlotthe Mr Bonaventura e Mickey inspire the creation of unique accessories.

In an era marked by fashion revolutions of Coco Chanel, the jewellery produced in Casalmaggiore they reflect the social customs and modernity of the interwar period.
