From the heart of Milan’s cultural scene at the turn of the 20th century emerges the extraordinary figure of Luigi Conconi, an eclectic artist, a refined engraver and architect, and a leading figure in the Scapigliatura. The major retrospective, curated by Simona Bartolena, presents a monographic exhibition of the highest scientific calibre, designed to shed new light on one of the most visionary and original figures in Italian art of the period.
Through a rich selection of over a hundred masterpieces, including paintings, drawings e engravings Drawn from renowned public and private collections, the exhibition itinerary traces the artist’s rich stylistic and thematic evolution. To fully contextualise the vibrant cultural environment in which the artistic sensibility of Luigi Conconi, the exhibition harmoniously complements the works of the founding fathers of the Scapigliati movement: Quiet Cremona, Daniele Ranzoni e Giuseppe Grandi.
The exhibition also features important works by distinguished masters and fellow artists associated with the ‘Scapigliati’ movement and early Divisionist experiments, including Vespasiano Bignami, Paul Troubetzkoy e Gaetano Previati, with whom the artist shared his Milanese studio. An unmissable opportunity to immerse oneself in the subtle nuances of atmosphere, the poetic recklessness and the graphic experimentation of a unique era that transformed the visual and cultural history of our country.
