Beyond the snapshot. Intertwined stories

The collaboration between the Gran Paradiso National Park and the Fortress of Bard is back with a new and exciting exhibition project, continuing the outreach work that was successfully launched. Hosted in the evocative rooms of the Fortress Stables, the exhibition sets out to be an evocative journey of self-discovery that combines the theme of the’Ethics in nature photography an in-depth programme dedicated to biodiversity and its inestimable value.

The exhibition offers the public the chance to admire 28 photographs by various authors, taken directly from the archives of the Gran Paradiso National Park. Through these striking images, visitors are guided on a journey of discovery through the biological complexity of our planet, understood as a network of interconnections and ongoing relationships between organisms and the environment on which the very survival of ecosystems.

The exhibition is enriched by six key thematic sections that explore the biodiversity in Alpine environments — with the presentation of the twenty-year monitoring project for the Alpine wildlife —, the ecosystem services, the climate change along with the relevant species adaptation strategies, as well as the specific risks associated with the protection of the ibex. The meticulously crafted project conceived by Marcella Tortorelli and Elisa Ortoffi, under the scientific supervision of Ramona Viterbi, aims to help us understand how every choice, every action and even every single photograph can leave a profound mark on the fragile natural world around us.
