ADI Design Museum: the new exhibition layout and the exhibition “Antologica. Objects between the lines” are set to open”

L'ADI Design Museum The Milan museum has been refurbished and is presenting its permanent collection in a completely new guise. From 23 September (presentation at 6.00 pm), the museum presents the first new scientific classification of the Compasso d’Oro Historical Collection since it opened, curated by Maite García Sanchis.

A dynamic journey through the history of Italian design

The new exhibition itinerary traces over seventy years of history and material culture, bringing together a series of “snapshots” of the collective imagination from 1954 to the present day. The selection is further enhanced by major new features never before seen in this mode, such as the Compasso d’Oro Lifetime Achievement Award for a product and the international editions of the Compasso d’Oro.

The exhibition highlights the creative process through the display of archive material and previously unseen items: sketches, technical drawings, magazines, prototypes and private correspondence allow us to gain an insight not only into the finished object, but also into the designer’s mind and vision.

Anthology. Objects between the lines: when design meets literature

To accompany the permanent reorganisation, here is the fourth thematic feature edited by Andrea Anastasio and Domitilla Dardi: “Anthology. Objects between the lines”.

This fascinating exhibition brings together some of the most iconic products to have won the Compasso d’Oro award and masterpieces of world literature. Through scenic designs and theatre sets, words and materials intertwine: objects become characters or evoke atmospheres born of the writers’ pens, offering visitors their own personal and evocative interpretations.
