Edited by Francesca Guerisoli, the exhibition stems from the recent acquisition of the work THE SCHOOL (2024), which forms the centrepiece of an exhibition organised around the most significant themes in the artist’s body of work Margherita Moscardini. The artist’s entire visual and conceptual exploration takes shape starting from real places, historical events and existing buildings, analysed through extensive field studies. The works transform specific events into critical frameworks for reflecting on universal themes such as the citizenshipthe lawthe border, l'membership and the forms of living.
The exhibition design makes use of the transparent architecture of the James Wines Pavilion, conceived as a transitional space between the interior and exterior that amplifies the narrative impact of the individual works. Among the works on display, the fired clay installation dedicated to the story of Dara’a at Syria, accompanied by the sound installation THE BOYS. The tour continues on the first floor with the glass sculptures The High Seas of Planet Earth, focusing on maritime law and World Heritage Site, the bronze castings associated with the Roman concept of Res Communis Omnium, and the artist’s book ATLAS. The itinerary is rounded off by the performative memory of Bethel Chapel’s Annex, the historical study of the’Atlantic Wall entitled 1XUNKNOWN 1942–2018: To Fortress Europe with Love and the text at
