Plaisirs de Culture 2026

From 19 to 27 September 2026 The event is back in the Aosta Valley with Cultural Delights, the cultural programme organised by the Regional Department for Education, Culture and Identity Policies as part of the European Heritage Days.

The fourteenth edition is dedicated to a thought-provoking and highly topical theme: “Heritage at risk. Renew, resist, reinvent”. An invitation to rediscover the value of cultural heritage, not merely as monuments to be preserved, but as living entities that define our identity and are capable of transformation.

A special preview in Piazza Chanoux

The official opening will take place in Aosta Friday 18 September at 9.00 pm in the very centre of Chanoux Square with the multimedia and theatre production Franciscan Echoes. Through music, drama and images, the event will bring back memories of the lost church of St Francis (the remains of which lie beneath the square itself) and will form part of the celebrations marking the 800th anniversary of the death of St Francis of Assisi.

The programme: 70 initiatives across the region

For nine days, in collaboration with 9 local authorities and 38 partners, the region will come alive with around 70 events scattered throughout the region amongst castles, archaeological sites, museums and villages:

• Guided tours and themed walks: From the history of mountaineering to traditional crafts, from rural architecture to botany.
• Events and in-depth discussions: Discussions and accounts from academics, conservators and industry professionals, reflecting on the challenges of protection and conservation.
• Shows and performances: Installations, concerts and theatre performances that will reinterpret our heritage from a contemporary perspective.
• Workshops for families and children: Educational activities, guided tours and games to discover history in a fun way.
• Educational institutions: Programmes designed for pupils and students of all ages and levels, aimed at turning our heritage into a tool for active citizenship.

Among the main events, Friday 25 September There will also be a presentation of ConneXions, the event to present the results of “Cantiere Cultura”, including a presentation of the new Strategic Guidelines for Cultural Policies 2027–2036 of the Region.
