Temporary exhibition
The Great Wisdom
CASTLE OF BRESCIA - Brescia (BS)
includedFrom Tuesday 14.07.2026 to Sunday 10.01.2027
The exhibition hosted at the Castle of Brescia, in the Big Mile, is the exhibition event of the year dedicated to environmental protection, held as part of the science communication festival Horizons. Edited by Lauren Johnston and promoted by the Municipality of Brescia together with the Brescia Musei Foundation, the exhibition has been organised in collaboration with Galleries of Italy – Intesa Sanpaolo and the National Geographic Society.
The exhibition features over 80 spectacular photographs of Cristina Mittermeier, a renowned photographer, marine biologist and activist of Mexican origin. Through a powerful visual narrative centred on the concept of sufficiency (“as much as needed”), the exhibition is organised around three major themes: the underwater world, the terrestrial world and tribal peoples. The aim is to encourage deep reflection on our collective responsibility to safeguard the planet and to rediscover the symbiotic bond between humanity and nature. The Big Mile It thus becomes the centrepiece of a cultural ecosystem in which historical heritage actively engages with science, biodiversity and sustainability, thanks in part to the support of the Brescia-based company Palazzoli S.p.A. which supports the related teaching activities.
