The Silence of the Gaze
Mario Daniele, photographs 2008–2023
Savigliano Civic Museum of Plaster Casts - Savigliano (CN)
includedFrom Sunday 19.07.2026 to Sunday 20.09.2026
The exhibition, curated by Chiara Ravera, Paola Sosio e Silvia Olivero, presents an extraordinary retrospective dedicated to Mario Daniele (1950–2024), a figure deeply connected to the city of Savigliano. Born in Scarnafigi, in the province of Cuneo, the artist actually spent most of his life in Savigliano, where he also played an active part in civic life as a town councillor. After a long career in teaching, Daniele he poured his sensitivity into the photography, focusing on the exploration of the landscape in all its forms: from the French Atlantic coast in the series Océan (awarded at the Lucca Digital Photo Fest) right up to the Alpine peaks of That path to the lake and the snow-white landscapes of Winter.
His work is characterised by a delicate and uncluttered perspective, capable of capturing a perfect harmony between human figures, architecture and nature. This interaction between spaces and the people who inhabit them is also clearly evident in the projects In the Museums, Stage set, Untitled, Diptych and in the final work To get lost. His significant artistic legacy will also be explored in greater depth during the event “Night at the Museum“, an event at which the book will be presented To get lost, in the presence of the lecturer and fine-art printer Roberto Berné.
