Castello di Brescia

The Mastio on top of the hill, with the mighty Prisoners' Tower, the drawbridge and the Mirabella Tower overlooking the city - the last memory of the church of Santo Stefano in Arce - are witnesses to the communal periode and the Visconti domination. I massifs ramparts, with the pomonumental entrance portal, documenting instead the power of the Serenissima, who ruled the city for about four centuries.

Inside, the castle reveals paths and rooms that are often hidden and full of mystery; here the gaze turns to one of the most impressive views of the city, allowing one to admire not only the slopes of the Ronchi and the Brescian valleys, but also the Apennine chain and the Alps.

Protagonist of numerous dramatic events, including the famous Ten Days, the Castle is today an area where heterogeneous elements coexist: from the Roman testimonies, such as the Botticino stone oil warehouses, to the medieval buildings, to the 1909 locomotive, displayed inside the Falcone of Italy to the delight of the youngest visitors.
