The Pier Alessandro Garda Civic Museum by Ivrea hosts a major retrospective devoted to Carlo Mattioli, a leading figure and one of the most original protagonists of the Italian painting of the second half of the 20th century. The exhibition, entitled Textures, is the result of a prestigious collaboration involving the Municipality of Ivrea, l'Olivetti Historical Archive, the Guelpa Foundation and the Carlo Mattioli Foundation.
The exhibition, curated by Anna Zaniboni Mattioli, Marco Pozzali, Marcella Turchetti e Martina Lunardi, The aim is to explore the unprecedented and profound connection between the artist and the universe. Olivetti. Through a selection of almost seventy works, visitors can immerse themselves in a multidisciplinary itinerary that includes paintings, sculptures, photographs e video, enriched by precious paper materials e documents archives belonging to the olivettian cultural heritage.
The artistic research of Mattioli emerges in all its expressive power, revealing an almost visceral relationship with the matter and a pictorial language capable of fluctuating elegantly between the figuration and theabstraction. The exhibition analyses the most significant thematic nuclei of his production, from the famous landscapes at natural cycles, offering an overview that restores the intellectual complexity and the poetic force of a master who knew how to interpret modernity with a unique gaze.
