The exhibition dedicated to Rainer W. Schlegelmilch, universally known in the motorsport world as “.“RWS“celebrates the career of the man who is considered the greatest Formula 1 photographer. The exhibition traces a professional adventure that began in the 1962, when a young Schlegelmilch took his first portraits at the “1000 kilometres” of the Nürburgring. What began as a project for the final exam at the Bavarian State School of Photography in Munich quickly turned into a life mission, leading him to become an absolute master in transforming the speed, the voltage and the risk of racing in a timeless visual narrative.

The exhibition highlights the author's extraordinary stylistic transition: from his early works strictly in black and white for the most prestigious trade magazines, until the total switch to colour and then to the digital photography at 2004. The exhibition allows visitors to admire the emotional intensity captured in over fifty years of his career, during which he has documented the technological and human evolution of legendary stables such as Ferrari, Mercedes, BMW, Porsche e Aston Martin. Thanks to a monumental archive counting over 600,000 slides, visitors can immerse themselves in the documentary value of a work that earned Schlegelmilch a permanent lifetime pass conferred by Bernie Ecclestone a Monza. A fitting tribute to an artist capable of capturing the decisive moment between the kerbs of the world's most famous circuits.
