Performative and participatory processes as practice - XXVIII Gallarate Prize
MAGA MUSEUM - Gallarate (VA)
includedFrom Wednesday 11.02.2026 to Sunday 11.10.2026
La XXVIII Gallarate Prize explores the boundaries of artistic creation through the work of five protagonists of the current scene: Allison Grimaldi Donahue, Francesco Fonassi, Francesca Grilli, Beatrice Marchi e Martina Rota. The selection, curated by Lorenzo Balbi, Eva Fabbris e Caterina Riva, focuses on performative languages capable of converging the wordthe body and the sound in an exquisitely procedural and relational. The exhibition questions the very role of the public, transforming the spectator from a passive observer to an integral part of a’shared experience.
The project, hosted at the MA*GA Museum, brings into dialogue the dynamic practices of artists with the conventions of space and time typical of the’museum institution, with the ambitious objective of integrating these living energies into the permanent collection. Through the involvement physical and emotional, the exhibition generates temporary communities capable of activating different territories and knowledge, enhancing the expressive and political power of the performance. The event is part of the prestigious programme of the’Milan Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympiad, promoting values of respect, universality e accessibility. Thanks to the contribution of Lombardy Region and the project Horizons in motion, art becomes a tool for reflecting on the sustainability and on the deep connection between the culture and target communities.
