Novara: The San Gaudenzio dome reopens to the public for the 2026 season

With the arrival of spring, the city of Novara prepares to welcome visitors back to one of its most iconic monuments. La Dome of San Gaudentius, a masterpiece by architect Alessandro Antonelli and an outstanding example of masonry engineering worldwide, officially reopens for visitors after the usual winter break.

The initiative, promoted by Kalatà in collaboration with the Municipality of Novara, the ATL Terre dell'Alto Piemonte and the Fondazione Fabbrica Lapidea, aims to repeat the success of previous years by offering an experience that combines art, history and thrill.

Two routes to discover the “heart” of the work

The offer for 2026 is divided into two different itineraries, designed to satisfy both families and adventure lovers:

• Ascent to the Spire (100 metres): The most daring route that counts 478 steps. For security reasons, it is reserved for persons over the age of 14 years old and includes the use of a helmet and harness provided by the organisation.
• Route Dome (75 metres): An accessible itinerary from 6 years of age, involving the ascent of 266 steps wearing protective helmets.

Both tours allow you to explore the sophisticated 19th-century engineering solutions and enjoy a panorama that sweeps from the Alpine arc to the skyline of Milan.

Visits will take place regularly during weekends and public holidays. Given the limited number of places per shift, booking is strongly recommended to ensure access.
