In the restored spaces of the Sforzesco Castle in Vigevanothe Lomellina National Archaeological Museum dedicates an extensive and articulate tribute to Regina Cassolo, one of the most original and innovative protagonists of the Italian 20th century. The exhibition presents 108 works between sculptures, drawings and collages, returning to the public the extraordinary creative parabola of an artist capable of combining experimentation, matter and poetry in a personal and visionary language .
The exhibition is divided into four thematic sections that accompany the visitor in the understanding of his artistic evolution: from his academic beginnings to the progressive conquest of a abstract synthesis, from the innovative use of materials to the personal interpretation of the Futurism, to the search for a profound dialogue with the nature through herbaria .
After training at’Brera Academy, Regina soon moved beyond the traditional approach to explore the expressive possibilities of then-unheard-of materials such as aluminium, celluloid, Plexiglas and plastic laminates, anticipating many instances of historical vanguards. His membership of the Futurism, culminating in the signing of the Technical Manifesto of Futurist Aeroplastics, The result is light and dynamic works, capable of freeing sculpture from the weight of matter. .
The exhibition, conceived as an immersive and scientifically rigorous narrative, enhances the modernity of an artist who was able to reinvent sculpture by making it mobile, transparent and visionary, offering the public an experience of discovery and insight of great international scope.
