William Kentridge

Within the route Metaphysics/Metaphysics, Palazzo Citterio hosts the special intervention by William Kentridge, one of the most important contemporary artists on the international scene, who dedicates to Giorgio Morandi a visual and poetic reflection.

The installation consists of two parts: a immersive sound video installation, which reflects on the concept of memory and temporality, and a series of cardboard sculptures inspired by the objects in Morandi's famous still lifes. The works ideally dialogue with the Morandi's permanent collection kept in Palazzo Citterio, thanks to the Jesi and Vitali collections.

The intervention is a tribute to the tension between stillness and vision, between stasis and narration, in perfect harmony with metaphysical thought. Through his intermediary languages, Kentridge interprets the spirit of art as an investigation of time and presence.
