AMBROSIUS. IL TESORO DELLA BASILICA

Ambrosius. The Treasure of the Basilica stems from the desire to renewing the bond between the community and its cultural and spiritual heritage. The project, curated by the’architect museographer Andrea Perin with the work direction by Gaetano Arricobene and the contribution of the Scientific Committee of the Basilica, represents a milestone in the process of enhancing the Ambrosian complex.

The new route runs between the’Ambrosii Hall - ancient sacristy of the Monks, open to the public for the first time – the shrine of San Vittore in Ciel d'oro and the Capitoline, the original seat of the Treasury. In the centre, the figure of Saint Ambrose and the artefacts linked to its memory, reinterpreted from a contemporary and accessible perspective, in full respect of the protection constraints.

The Ambrosii Hall, which preserves unique testimonies of Ambrosian devotion, including the bed traditionally attributed to the Saint. The route is completed with the scientific reconstruction of Ambrose's face and with the Capitoline collections, which tell the history, worship and patronage of the Basilica over the centuries. A new space entirely dedicated to teaching completes the project.
