From Friday 28.11.2025 to Sunday 1.03.2026

the Milan Museum of Natural History hosts the exhibition The poison after the shot. Lead in hunting poisons birds, the environment and humans.promoted by the Municipality of Milan and created by the Museum itself in collaboration with the E. Caffi Natural Science Museum in Bergamo and the Italian Society of Natural Sciences. Edited by Enrico Bassi, Gloria Ramello, Paolo Pantini and Giorgio Chiozzi, The exhibition represents an evolution of the edition presented in Bergamo in 2023 on the occasion of BGBS2023 – Italian Capital of Culture, enriched with new scientific and educational content.

The exhibition offers a clear and engaging journey to illustrate the serious health and environmental risks arising from the use of lead in hunting ammunition. Via naturalistic finds, samples, images, historical collections e multimedia installations, the effects of lead poisoning – lead poisoning – on waterfowl, birds of prey e large European vultures, highlighting how this silent threat can also affect humans and domestic animals.

The exhibition aims to promote, through the collaboration between museums, research bodies and institutions, a cultural and regulatory change that promotes a sustainable hunting. This is not a condemnation of hunting, but an invitation to think critically and to adopt environmentally friendly solutions, such as alternative lead-free ammunition.

During the exhibition period, the public will be able to participate in guided tours, informative meetings, conferences e educational activities aimed at schools and families, to explore the complex link between hunting, environment and public health. The route is designed for a wide audience, with the aim of combining scientific rigour and accessibility, stimulating awareness and responsibility.
