Monza Municipal Museums – Casa degli Umiliati - Monza (MB)
From Saturday 22.11.2025 to Monday 6.04.2026
I City Museums of Monza pay homage to the Marche painter Anselmo Bucci on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of his death in Monza, his adopted city, in the 1955. The exhibition, curated by Alberto Crespi, proposes an exhibition itinerary spanning decades of artistic activity, from academic training to more mature developments, highlighting his path between Monza, Paris e Milan. The selected works - from the civic collections - testify to the extraordinary versatility of the artist, painter, engraver and graphic experimenter, immersed in the fervent European artistic context of the first half of the 20th century.
In the story told through images, the deep connection with Monza and its contribution to the city's cultural scene emerges, but also the influence of the French capital, where Bucci deepens the’art of engraving and attends the circles of the’avant-garde. The exhibition also documents his involvement in the movement “Twentieth Century”, participation in the Venice Biennials and the subsequent search for a more personal style. Alongside the portraits, to the urban landscapes and graphic works, the visitor will be able to appreciate the aesthetic coherence of an author who was able to maintain formal refinement e expressive intensity.
The exhibition is realised in collaboration with the’Association of Friends of the Museums of Monza and Brianza ETS and the MEMB - Monza and Brianza Ethnological Museum, and is accompanied by side events, guided tours and inclusive initiatives designed for all audiences.
