Recycled and returned fragments of history
CATHEDRAL TREASURE MUSEUM AND CAPITULAR ARCHIVES - VERCELLI (VC)
includedFrom Thursday 9.10.2025 to Saturday 6.12.2025
In the heart of the Archbishop's Palace of Vercelli, the exhibition Recycled and returned fragments of history tells how the recycling was already a concrete practice in Middle Ages: documents written, discarded and reused become covers, reinforcements, parchments rewritten and new media for use. The course, created as part of the REDDIS - REcycled mEDieval DIplomatic FragmentS and coordinated by the University of Milan, Genoa, Bologna and Rome Tor Vergata, brings into dialogue Archive e Chapter Library with a selection of manuscripts illuminating the circulation of people, ideas and papers between territories e characters of the past, restoring a dynamic vision of medieval culture. The exhibition enhances unpublished and little-known materials that have emerged from recent research, intended to fill empty documentaries and weaving new links between events and places of the european history.
The Vercelli event is part of the side events of the project with stops also in Bologna, Piacenza, Rome and Savona. The cut is together scientific e informativean invitation to look at the fragments not as waste, but as living traces able to expand the narrative of the collections and written heritage preserved in the city.
