From Wednesday 22.10.2025 to Sunday 28.06.2026

The MAO Museum of Oriental Art in Turin presents Chiharu Shiota: The Soul Tremblesa major monographic exhibition curated by Mami Kataokadirector of the Mori Art Museum and creator of the original project, and Davide QuadrioDirector of the MAO, with the curatorial collaboration of Anna Musini e Francesca Filisetti.

The extensive exhibition traces the Japanese artist's entire output through drawings, photographs, sculptures and some of his most iconic environmental and monumental installations.

Often inspired by personal experiences, Shiota's works investigate the intangible - memories, emotions, dreamlike visions - offering spaces of silence and contemplation and questioning universal themes such as identity, relationship with the other, life and death. Crossing the boundaries of time and space, his works speak to the most intimate and fragile part of the human being.

The most famous installations, created with dense weaves of red or black threads that envelop and transform the rooms, lead the visitor into an immersive experience in which fascination and disquiet, movement and stillness intertwine in a suspended equilibrium.
