Museum destination

A journey into the secret heart of art: the exhibition brings together ten works recently entered the collections of Piedmont's state museums and cultural sites thanks to compulsory purchases and to interventions of protection. The display, distributed among the Chinese Apartments and the Salon of Hercules, brings into dialogue Archaeology, Painting and precious artefacts, telling stories of works rescued, found and returned to public property through the joint action of the Superintendenciesof the Carabinieri Cultural Heritage Protection Command and the Regional Directorates National Museums.

In the Chinese Apartments For the Idea by Angelo Garino (1892), a painting of high quality and documentary relevance that immortalises the presentation of the sketch of Leonardo Bistolfi for the monument to Amedeo Duke of Aosta. Destined for the Leonardo Bistolfi Civic Museum Plaster Casts Gallery by Casale Monferratothe work is the focus of a fundraising campaign Art Bonus in support of restoration, a virtuous example of cultural patronage. Next to it, one casket in silver and gold filigree workmanship Indo-Portuguese (ca. 1650) intended for the MAO Museum of Oriental Art, Turin, a portrait oil on copper by Hendrik Frans Van Lint (1750) for the Royal Museums of Turin and the rare manuscript La Margoton Contredanse for the Turin National University Library.

In Salon of Herculesa selection of Magna Graecia ceramics - recovered thanks to important investigative work by the TPC Carabinieri Nucleus - meets tasteful decoration neoclassicalrenewed in the 19th century by Pelagius Palagia dialogue between ancient history e modern visions which transforms the Castle of Racconigi in a bridge between investigation, recovery and destination in the museum. The exhibition invites reflection on the value of protection and on the civilian mission to bring art back to everyone's places, making beauty living memory and shared.
