PICTURE GALLERY OF THE ALBERTINE ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS - Turin (TO)

For the first time, theAlbertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin hosts the World Press Photo Exhibitionthe most prestigious international exhibition of photojournalism. The 2025 edition represents a meeting point between civic engagement, visual power e historical testimonybringing to the heart of Turin a selection of the most emblematic images of the world in 2024.
Each shot is an open window on current events: from the attack on Donald Trump to the migration crisis along the Darién, the war in Sudan, Ukraine and in the Gaza Stripto gang violence in Haiti and street protests in Kenya, Georgia e Bangladesh. Alongside the political events, intimate, profound and poignant stories emerge, such as that of Anhelina, a Ukrainian girl psychologically scarred by the war, or that of Mahmoud Ajjouryoung Palestinian victim of a military attack.
Among the long-term projects is the Italian Cinzia Canneriwho followed women fleeing from theEritrea and theEthiopia, the Belarusian Tatsiana Chypsanava with its reportage on Maori cultural resistance in New Zealand, e Aliona Kardashdenouncing the effects of repression in Russia. The mountains of the Iranian Kurdistan, the prisons of theEl Salvador and the Darién jungle become dramatic backdrops for tales of survival, dignity and courage.
The exhibition, organised by CIME under the patronage of City of Turininvites you to look at the world through the lensprompting the spectator to reflect, participate and not forget. An immersive journey that restores value to the truth of the image as a tool for collective awareness.
