Temporary exhibition
Ken Scott. The garden of fashion
VILLA MONASTERY - Varenna (LC)

From Friday 20.06.2025 to Friday 10.10.2025
The exhibition, curated by Conservator Anna Ranziwas born from the fruitful collaboration with the Ken Scott Foundationwhich opened its historical archives to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Province of Lecco. In this display, the visitors are invited to discover a combination of nature, fashion e decorative art: thirty dresses selected, characterised by floral motifs that dialogue with the essences of the Botanical Garden of Villa Monastero, recently renovated. Next to the clothes, four precious sketchbookthirty designs for 'little flower' themed scarves, and silk 'tirelle' with colour proofs, testify to the exceptional chromatic creativity of Ken Scott from the 1950s onwards.
There is no shortage of everyday objects: bags, suitcases, armchairs and poufs in vivid colours, jewellery, umbrellas and even a set of ceramic plates - whose motif bamboo recalls the original garden specimens - complemented by monogrammed KS cutlery and glasses, designed for the restaurant eats&drinks of 1969. The exhibition opens with an effigy of Ken Scott, created by Natino Chiricowhich welcomes the public to the exhibition, accompanying the route through elegance, colour and innovation.
This exhibition is an authentic homage to the beauty of the nature and the modernity of fashion, told through the artistic sensitivity of one of the protagonists of 20th century textile design. Short informative texts illustrate the relationship between the botanicals, the accessories and the history of Villa Monastero itself, a symbolic place of culture, contemplation and wonder.
