Museo delle Officine dell’Acqua

The Fondazione Officine dell'Acqua was born in Laveno Mombello from an urban regeneration project to enhance the memory of the waterways of northern Italy. It redevelops the old port and railway yard warehouses, now a cultural centre with a museum of vintage hulls, ship carpentry workshops, a thematic library and a conference hall. It is a place for training and transmission of traditional lake crafts, with courses and workshops. The foundation also runs a floating museum at the Porto Antico, from which excursions depart on board restored historic boats to discover the history, nature and traditions of Lake Maggiore.
