The Hidden

The photo exhibition The Hidden by Valentina Tamborra stems from the book of the same name published by minimum faxwith a significant preface by William T. Vollmann, an iconic author of contemporary North American fiction. The project, realised between Italy and northern Norway, explores the identity of the people sámione of the last indigenous peoples of Europe, whose bond with nature, spirituality and thousand-year-old traditions is now more than ever at risk of dissolution.

Tamborra recounts with an intimate and poetic gaze what often remains off the radar of mainstream narratives: faces, gestures, environments talking about cultural resistance and a fragile but deeply rooted identity. The exhibition is enriched by a short video documentarywhich adds movement and voice to the silent images. The route takes the form of a journey into the memory and the contemporaryoffering a reflection on the visibility of 'hidden' peoples and the need to protect their history.

The exhibition is part of a broader cultural programme promoted by the CAM pole and international partners, with the support of Fujifilm, Insideover, Northern Norway e minimum fax.
