Primo Favarin and his subiet

With the exhibition Primo Favarin and his subiet, Villa Vidua celebrates the memory and art of Primo Favarinthe latest interpreter of the subiet of Patrothe famous terracotta whistles. Favarin, originally from Patro, hamlet of Moncalvohas been able to transform local clay into authentic works of folk art, capable of recounting with simplicity and humour the daily life, the trades, the fauna and the crib scenes.

The exhibition, which is free and open on public holidays, offers a significant selection of his creations, including the subiet of the mayor of Conzano, an ironic and regal figure from 1996 that pays homage to the artist's playful spirit. The exhibition invites the visitor to rediscover an ancient tradition, which is also echoed in the National Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions in Romewhere some of Favarin's works are kept.

This initiative is part of the cultural project to enhance the Monferrato's artistic personalitiesreaffirming the deep connection between territory, crafts and cultural identity.
