In the heart of Palazzo Falletti Baroloin the fascinating rooms of the piano nobile, the exhibition comes to life The crossroads of the Langhea journey through the artistic and territorial history of the Langhe between the Middle Ages and the Modern Age. The initiative, promoted by theUniversity of Turin and the Soprintendenza Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio for the provinces of Alessandria, Asti and Cuneowith the cooperation of theOpera Barolois part of the PRIN project Beyond the Municipality: towards a new reading of local Politics, 12th - 18th centuries.

The set-up consists of six illustrative panelsenriched with texts, images and infographics, which tell the myth of the Langhe and their geography, the "boundary game'. and the distinctive elements of the territory such as castles, towers and vineyards. One section explores the role of the territory as crossroads of artistic experiencewhile a final panel is dedicated to the family Falletti di Barolofundamental in local history and in the production of the famous Barolo wine.

In addition to the panels, the public will be able to admire a selection of documents and period objectsdisplayed in the building's new windows. These include a 14th-century parchmentwhich testifies to the foundation of the castles of Barolo, Volta and Serralunga by the Falletti family, and a document of 1730 signed by Victor Amadeus II of Savoywhich elevated the Fallettis to the rank of marquises. A further section is dedicated to the Agricultural diary of Marquis Carlo Tancredi, full of annotations on viticulture at the time, and the will of Marquise Giuliawhich testifies to the desire to transform the Castello di Barolo into a boarding school for young people. To complete the exhibition, some Historical Barolo bottles from the 19th and early 20th centuryprecious relics of an oenological tradition that still represents the excellence of the territory.

The exhibition is set in the rooms of the piano nobile of Palazzo Barolo and can only be visited with a guided tour at the following times:

  • Tuesday to Friday: 15.00, 16.00 and 17.00
  • Saturday and Sunday: 11 a.m., 3 p.m., 4 p.m.
