Palazzo Besta e Antiquarium Tellinum

The building is developed on three storeys above ground, articulated around a splendid square courtyard with two orders of loggias. The main façade, which runs alongside the access road to the village, is divided into two levels by a high diamond-decorated band. Its windows, of varying sizes, are topped by triangular gables enclosing roundels painted with the profiles of illustrious men, while in the lunettes of the underside of the eaves the frescoed coats of arms of the most important tellin families.

Access to the vaulted hallway is via a wide 16th-century white marble portal, located asymmetrically near the southern edge. The square courtyard represents the true heart of the dwelling: here, a band decorated with grotesques and medallions separates the first two floors, showing portraits of people in ancient dress, traditionally identified with the members of the Besta family. On the walls of the second floor, the stories from the Aeneid frescoed in monochrome, while a large enclosed garden embraces the structure on three sides.
