PARCO ARCHEOLOGICO DEL SANTUARIO DI MINERVA
Breno (BS)
included Behind the complex of the show buildings of Cividate Camuno, across the Barberino hill, one can easily reach the sanctuary of Minerva in the locality of Spinera di Breno, which was the main extra-urban place of worship of the town. The area, now an archaeological park, is easily accessible via a special cycle and pedestrian path along the river.
Discovered in 1986 and opened to the public in 2007, the Sanctuary of Minerva is an exceptional archaeological park where the natural beauty and sacredness of the site is combined with the monumentality of the Roman intervention that has been well preserved in the structures. The monumental remains brought to light are now accessible and usable under the cover of a beautiful architectural structure and enhanced by a didactic apparatus in Italian and English. Under the watchful eye of Minerva, the visitor will be able to retrace, as two thousand years ago, the spaces of worship and ritual at the foot of the hill from which the sacred water flowed.
