The Galleria Sabauda , built in 1832 at the behest of Charles Albert and reopened in the renovated premises in the Manica Nuova of the Royal Palace, is to be considered one of the most important picture galleries in Italy with over 180 years of history and more than 700 works by Italian and European artists produced from the 13th to the 20th century.

The Galleria Sabauda is one of Italy's most important picture galleries with a collection of seven hundred paintings including masterpieces by the great Italian, Flemish and Dutch masters. The history of the picture gallery originates in 1497 when the Savoy family gathered the ancient works acquired by the house in an inventory. The first real catalogue dates back to 1631 and is carefully preserved in a special case. The precious paintings were first placed in the gallery that connected Palazzo Reale and Palazzo Madama, which was damaged several times by fire and was never rebuilt. The Royal Gallery, with 365 paintings, was inaugurated in 1832 by Charles Albert in Palazzo Madama. Over time, the collection was enriched with many other important paintings of the Flemish and Dutch schools.ceded to the Italian State in 1860, in 1865 it was moved to Via Accademia delle Scienze and, since April 2012, has been located in the Manica Nuova of the Royal Palace. The Gallery contains several masterpieces from the Piedmontese school, including a precious polyptych by Giovanni Canavesio, 15th- and 16th-century Italian masters, such as Andrea Mantegna's Madonna and Child with Saints and Paolo Veronese's The Supper, as well as a spectacular view of Turin in the mid-18th century by Bernardo Bellotto. The project, based on the exhibition of 500 paintings, includes a re-evaluation of the Gualino collection and 20th-century works, which are compared on the fourth floor of the new building. In July 2017, Botticelli's Venus, loaned for an off-site exhibition in Boston (USA), returns to the Gallery. It is possible to visit the Gallery through guided tours organised by experts.
