At Castille of Saluzzo the ironic and profound universe of Elliott Erwittone of the giants of 20th century photography.
Elliott Erwitt. The fleeting ideal is the first original exhibition in Italy after the great author's death in November 2023, bringing together black-and-white and colour photographs.
Conceived as the summa of his art, the exhibition project places rarely exhibited works alongside the most iconic images. Almost one hundred selected shotsauthor's favourites, which curator Biba Giacchetti has chosen to pay homage to Erwitt's philosophy of life and understanding of photographyfamous portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Che Guevara, Jack Kerouac, Marlene Dietrich, but also photographs that have made history, such as the quarrel between Richard Nixon and Nikita Chruščëvthe funeral of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the unforgettable match between Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali, as well as the icons most loved by the public for their romantic strength, such as the California Kissor the more intimate and private ones such as the tender shot of his first-born daughter lying on the bed with her mother watching her. The exhibition concludes with a section entirely dedicated to the ineffable dogs, anthropomorphic metaphors of the human condition.
