The Bene Vagienna Archaeological Museum was established at the beginning of the 20th century by Giuseppe Assandria and Giovanni Vacchetta, who identified the site of ancient Augusta Bagiennorum (today's Roncaglia plain) and conducted a series of archaeological research there between 1892 and 1925.

The Bene Vagienna Archaeological Museum was established at the beginning of the 20th century by Giuseppe Assandria and Giovanni Vacchetta, who identified the site of ancient Augusta Bagiennorum, now the Roncaglia plain, where they carried out a series of archaeological investigations. The museum is housed in the 18th-century Palazzo Lucerna in Rorà, which contains the finds unearthed during the various archaeological investigations. The layout, which reflects the criteria of 19th-century museography, has been preserved as a historical memory even in the recent restoration. On display are artefacts from various periods (1st to 8th century A.D.) from the excavations that the Superintendency conducted on the site of the Roman city and which brought to light various public monuments, most recently (2001 - 2003) the amphitheatre.
