CIVICO MUSEO ARCHEOLOGICO E DI SCIENZE NATURALI FEDERICO EUSEBIO

The F. Eusebio Civic Museum of Archaeology and Natural Sciences is the authentic treasure chest of the territory of the city of Alba and the Langhe and Roero hills. Founded in 1897 on the initiative of Federico Eusebio, a professor of Latin Literature at the University of Genoa, the Museum started out exclusively as a historical-archaeological collection. In 1976 it was moved to its current location and enriched with the addition of sections illustrating the natural history of the territory, the heritage of the old archaeological museum was supplemented with finds from excavations carried out over the last 30 years, which have enabled knowledge of prehistory and the Roman city to be developed. Reorganised in 2000 with modern and concise exhibition criteria, the Eusebio Museum finds its home in the heart of the old town, right in the middle of the medieval outlines of the 'City of a Hundred Towers' in a sleeve of the historic Magdalena church complex. As a whole, the museum provides the broadest possible picture of the local environment in its natural and historical development.
