Museo di Archeologia e Paleontologia Carlo Conti
Borgosesia (VC)
Chiusura temporanea

The Borgosesia Museum is dedicated to Carlo Conti (1880-1974), sculptor and Honorary Inspector of the Piedmont Archaeological Superintendency (1923-1954). It was inaugurated in 2007 and bears witness to decades of research on and around Monte Fenera, carried out by universities and supported by GASB, the Borgosesia Archaeology and Speleology Group.
The archaeological collection bears witness to the constant human presence in the area from the Middle Palaeolithic to the 19th century: prehistoric lithic tools and ceramic objects come mainly from Monte Fenera; Iron Age and Roman grave goods were found in ancient Seso and indicate that the settlement moved to the area of today's Borgosesia in this era; remains of a cave settlement, complete with craft activities, indicate that in the early Middle Ages man returned at least partially to the caves; materials from Vanzone Castle describe human activities from the late Middle Ages to the 19th century.
