L'Botanical Garden of Turin is divided into two large areas: a first area set up in garden - between the Valentino Castle and the Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology - and one behind, called the Grove.
The Garden extends over approximately 9,000 m2 and is divided into thematic flowerbeds by botanical families. Inside, it houses a Alpineto at the south-west end (designed in the early 1960s by Prof. Bruno Peyronel), three historical tanks and a series of stone basins on the north side that house the collection of medicinal plants. Of great importance are the four greenhouses present: the greenhouse of the South Africa on the west side (inaugurated in 2007), while on the east side is the greenhouse of the Succulents, the greenhouse tropical and the new greenhouse of multiplication.
The Grove instead occupies an area of approximately 18,000 m2. This space is dedicated to tree collections and boasts specimens of centenary trees considered among the oldest in Turin.
