Ten years after his death, a vast retrospective dedicated to Hans Rudi Gigerone of the most visionary artists of the second half of the 20th century and a legendary name in the world of graphic and film design. Known to the general public as the man who created the imagery of the film AlienGiger was actually a multifaceted artist who has experimented with different techniques and lent his art to a variety of fields.
Giger was a plastic artist, a draughtsman and, above all, a painter considered one of the greatest masters ofairbrush. An artist with a unique style and unmistakable, the biomechanicalas he called it. The fantasy genre, surrealism, horror and monstrous imagery were profoundly transformed by the irruption of Alien on the scene, establishing the foundations of theaesthetics of the obscure in contemporary culture, not only audiovisual. Literature, fashion, design, film, music - from pop to heavy metal via electronics - video games, illustration, comics and art in general constantly feed on the universe created by Giger.
This universe, populated by monsters, demons, fetishes and gothic landscapes, is presented in a official exhibition which includes over 100 works including paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs, design objects and videos, from the Giger Museum in Switzerland, directed by Carmen Gigerthe master's widow.
