Castle
Castel Savoia

The laying of the foundation stone of Castel Savoia, the beloved residence where Queen Margherita of Savoy spent a quarter of a century summer holiday, took place in 1899. Five years later the castle was completed, in a multifaceted eclectic style mixing neo-medieval and neo-Renaissance suggestions with the sinuous lines of Art Nouveau.
The interior preserves the original furnishings: wall paintings, stained glass, wooden carvings and furniture made according to the taste of the sovereign, evoked in all rooms by the flower bearing her name. The castle also features a special rock garden rich in botanical species.
Reservation recommended especially on weekends. Reservations can be made at this link (by paying the pre-sale) or on site at one of the tourist offices that are Museum Pass sales points (Aosta, Pont Saint-Martin and Courmayeur).
