Castle
Castello di Fénis

The set of towers and walls that make up the castle are the result of a history that began in the 12th century, under the jurisdiction of the Viscounts of Aosta. Towards the middle of the 14th century, Aimone di Challant, a leading exponent of one of the oldest noble families in Valle d'Aosta, undertook major reconstruction work that accentuated the fortified appearance of the building.
At the beginning of the next century, his son, Boniface I, refined the courtyard and interior of the austere residence with spectacular frescoes in the International Gothic style. The rooms house a collection of Alpine furniture built in 1935-36.
