The Diocesan Museum hosts a retrospective dedicated to Robert Capacurated by Gabriel Bauret and promoted by the Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo Foundation. The exhibition, realised thanks to the support of main sponsor Dilsoffers a journey through the life and career of the famous war photographer, from his first images in the 1932 until his tragic death in 1954.
Composed of 300 works selected from the archives of theMagnum Photos Agency, the exhibition reveals the many facets of Capa, a passionate man unwavering in his commitment. Through the words of Henri Cartier-Bresson, we discover Capa as a bullfighter of light, a man who fought generously to capture the reality of conflict.
The exhibition offers a detailed look at Capa's artistic and professional career, exploring his most iconic shots and his empathetic working method. Through 9 thematic sections, the exhibition traces Capa's path through the main historical events of his time, highlighting his humanist sensitivity and his attention to the weak times of the story, where the personal stories and humanity of the subjects portrayed emerge.
Incorporating the chronicle of his reportages published in the French and American press, the exhibition offers a complete immersion in the work of one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century, celebrating his civic commitment and dedication to documenting conflicts and their victims. During evening hours it is not possible to pre-purchase or book admission to the exhibition
There are no reductions or gratuities. It is not possible to enter with a Lombardy Valle d'Aosta Museums Subscription (which remains valid only during daytime visits).
