The Paradisia Alpine Botanical Garden, named after the mountain lily with delicate white flowers Paradisea liliastrum, was founded in July 1955 and is located at an altitude of 1700 metres in Valnontey.
The garden is home to around 1,000 species of plants and flowers from the Alps and Apennines, as well as examples of mountain flora from all over the world (Europe, Asia, America). In addition, some of the surrounding mountain environments have been reconstructed in the garden, such as the vegetation of wetlands, moraines and limestone debris. In this privileged place, visitors have the opportunity to get closer to nature, observing and analysing the plants they might encounter during an excursion in the Gran Paradiso mountains, discovering their names, comparing them with similar ones, learning to recognise and respect them. Various itineraries and thematic routes allow visitors to explore the Paradisia Botanical Garden in a careful and personalised way, discovering the characteristics, properties and curiosities of the various plant species.
