Museum of Natural Science
TEATRO DELLE SCIENZE | Museo di Scienze Naturali e Laboratorio di Astronomia

The Science Theatre is a museum opened by the City of Alexandria in 2006 and divided into two sections: the Natural Science Museum and the Planetarium.
The Museum of Natural Sciences offers a journey inside the Earth among rock, mineral and fossil specimens, to observe and touch, and volcanic eruptions. The exhibition section includes palaeontological, mineralogical, ornithological and entomological collections. At the centre of the nature room is a diorama, reconstructing the river environment of the province of Alessandria, and a transparent cylinder dedicated to displaying butterfly specimens from around the world. During the tour, you can listen to the sounds of nature from a circadian cycle, an innovative eco-acoustic project produced exclusively for the Museum of Natural Sciences in Alessandria.
The Planetarium is an educational tool that makes it possible to tell the ancient myths related to the constellations, show the movements of celestial bodies, and explore planets and galaxies. Under the dome of the Planetarium, with the help of animations and images, an environment is created in which the spectator feels immersed in the universe. The view is comparable to observing the starry sky from a location with virtually no light pollution.
Projections make it possible to recognise visible constellations at various times of the year, understand celestial motions and cycles, and explore more complex topics such as stellar and galactic evolution. In the Astronomy Education Room, astronomy topics are covered and simulations can be carried out on the motions of the planets, eclipses and tides.
