The exhibition 800 LOMBARDO: Rebellion and Conformism, from Hayez to Previaticurated by Simona Bartolena and hosted by theOrangery, Reggia di Monza and the City Museums of Monzaoffers a fascinating journey into the painting and in the culture of 19th century Lombardy. Through almost one hundred works, including paintings e drawings of the leading artists of theLombardy 19th centuryfamous as Hayez e Previati to lesser-known ones such as Luigi ConconiThe exhibition explores the different artistic currents and biographies of the artists.
Organised by thematic areas, the exhibition analyses the artistic movements and iconographic trends of the time, offering the visitor a dynamic and intellectually rich experience. The art scene is explored Milanesebut also that of the other Lombardy provinces, with a section dedicated to the city of Monza and its extraordinary painters.
From romantic season by Hayez at vedutists such as Giovanni Migliara, from War of Independence to the revolutionaries of the Scapigliatura such as Quiet Cremona, the exhibition offers an in-depth look at the society and art of the time.
Concluding on the threshold of Divisionism with works by Previati e Segantinithe exhibition reveals the artistic and cultural evolution that characterised the Lombardy in the 19th century, anticipating future movements such as the Symbolism.
