The Complesso Monumentale di San Francesco in Cuneo presents an exhibition project promoted by Fondazione CRC and Intesa Sanpaolo entitled The Colours of Faith in Venice: Titian, Tintoretto and Veronese. The exhibition, curated by Don Gianmatteo Caputo and Giovanni Carlo Federico Villa and realised with the organisational support of MondoMostre, offers for the first time side by side five great altarpieces by the Venetian Renaissance masters Tiziano Vecellio, Jacopo Robusti known as Tintoretto and Paolo Caliari known as Veronese, from as many Venetian churches.
This exhibition features some of the most great masterpieces that the Venetian Church possesses, both in importance and in size, works by its sublime and most representative artists. The exhibition aims to offer an opportunity to explore the role of these great works in their Venetian context and make the visitor understand the epochal importance of the artistic dialogue that took place between Titian, Tintoretto and Veronese.
The exhibition opens with a room dedicated to Venice, emphasising its role and that of the Serenissima Republic as the gateway to the worldwith its trade and diplomacy. The exhibition then moves into the main hall, where each of the five works finds a home in as many chapels.
