Paul Troubetzkoy. The sculptor of the Belle Époque

Paul Troubetzkoy, an artist with a fascinating and cosmopolitan biography, returns to Milan with a major monographic exhibition. The Gallery of Modern Art hosts an exhibition that aims to restore to the public the exceptional nature of this Italian sculptor, born a Russian prince, trained between Italy and Paris and also celebrated in the United States. The exhibition reconstructs the intensity of a career lived between portraits of illustrious personalities and a unique style capable of capturing the vibrant essence of the Belle Époque.

Troubetzkoy, appreciated by an international elite and a friend of the likes of Lev Tolstoy e George Bernard Shaw, was also the protagonist of an unconventional artistic expression, linked to original life choices such as the vegetarianism, which was uncommon at the time. In addition to the famous bronze portraits, the exhibition highlights the production animal rights activist of the artist, enriched by important loans from international collections, including the Musée d'Orsaythe Petit Palaisthe San Francisco Museum of Fine Artsthe Sorolla Museum of Madrid and many others. In a refined dialogue, the sculptural works will be juxtaposed with paintings by masters such as Bolodini, Sorolla e Repin, offering an elegant and comprehensive fresco of the spirit of the times.
