Temporary exhibition
The wolf’s tracks
Waldensian Museum - Torre Pellice (TO)
From Saturday 27.06.2026 to Sunday 30.08.2026
The wolf has been part of the human imagination for centuries. Through stories, chronicles, historical documents and legends, men and women have often spoken of themselves by telling of animals and their delicate relationship with nature. The exhibition takes visitors on a fascinating journey through these stories, exploring valuable accounts from the valleys of the Pinerolese and from neighbouring regions beyond the Alps, in the Queyras.
The exhibition brings together a diverse range of sources such as folklore tales, archival documents, scientific reports, travel diaries e news reports. According to the accounts of the Eighteenth century and theNineteenth century up to the articles from the early years of the Twentieth century – as reports emerge of the killing of the alleged “last wolf” – stories are coming to light that reveal the true nature of local communities. As the famous semiotician observed Yuri Lotman, human beings tend to view animals as imperfect humans. This exhibition, with texts and photographs curated by Davide Rosso and enriched with drawings and illustrations by Manuela Rosso, and thus becomes a mirror of human fears, hopes and contradictions.
A evocative narrative in words and images that brings the past to life and invites the audience to reflect on the ever-shifting boundary between history, nature e imagination. A unique opportunity to rediscover the historic centre of Fenestrelle.
📍 The exhibition is being held at the Casa del Genio | Via Umberto I, 100 – Fenestrelle (TO)
